Apple released third Intel-based Mac, the revamped Mac Mini using Intel Core chips. There are two models of the Mac Mini:
- 1.5GHz Intel Core Solo, 60GB hard drive, combo drive and 512MB memory. Price: USD$599
- 1.67GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 80GB hard drive, SuperDrive and 512MB memory. Price: USD$799
What’s New?
The new Mac Mini upgraded 100Mbps Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet, increased number of USB ports to four, and added optical sound in/out jacks. Apple’s Front Row is also included.
My two cents
*Sigh* I was expecting for Intel-based iBook. Intel-based Mac mini is just another step of Apple to switch all Apple computers to Intel CPU. While the Intel CPU performance is being highlighted, please note that the new Mac mini graphic is supported by Intel GMA950 build in graphic processor with 64MB of shared memory. That means you don’t get high video performance on Mac mini. That’s a con.
