Recently I went to a shop to get myself an “adventure” watch. I had chosen a Casio PRG-120 Triple Sensor Protrek watch. The shopkeeper said, “Hah… that is the King of Casio!”
Why would he say that it is the King? Well beside basic time keeping, it also has a thermometer, a barometer, an altimeter and a digital compass! And it is expensive indeed.
Why do we need a thermometer?
You do not know the outdoor air temperature, do you? Sepang Formula One race claims to be the hottest race with air temperature reaching 34 degree Celcius. But Interlagos F1 race was 36 degree this year. How cool is the air in your office?
Why do we need a barometer?
When the air pressure drops, it forecasts a storm is coming, or maybe a hurricane. Hey, this is handy to predict the flood. Better get prepared before it hits.
Why do we need an altimeter?
Not only for mountain climbing. You can see the altimeter changes when you go travelling. You can check how high your condominium is. I bet it is more fun to check the altimeter on an airplane which I am looking for.
Compass?
Getting lost? My friend wanted to buy a new house. He saw a beautiful house in a strategic location. But where was the house facing? North? East? South? West? Where is the sun? Worry not. This digital compass comes in use. It is a feng shui “luo pan”!
